Baltimore playwright and performer Susan McCully brings her two-woman show Inexcusable Fantasies to the 12 a comedy that exposes her secret and not-so-secret obsessions with Martha Stewart, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and Panasonic personal massagers. The play runs for nine performances, 24 May – 1 June at Divadlo Kampa, Nosticova 2a, Malá Strana, Praha 1.

McCully, a scholar of feminist theater at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, wrote and stars in the piece, an autobiographical journey about lesbian in/visibility, lust and allure “over forty,” and the unmistakably erotic powers of Martha Stewart’s marzipan. The play is directed and produced by fellow UMBC professor Eve Muson, who has directed productions throughout the Washington, D.C./ Baltimore area.  The company will be rounded out by Rachel Hirshorn, a UMBC Theatre alumna and longtime Baltimore actress and theatre artist.

Inexcusable Fantasies was first penned a few years ago, opening the Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Theatre Festival in 2004.  In November 2012, the play was revised and re-mounted at the Strand Theater in Baltimore, a company that celebrates women’s diverse voices and perspectives.  Of the Baltimore production, BroadwayWorld.com wrote “Inexcusable Fantasies provides 75 minutes of exceedingly smart (really, so smart), no-excuses amusement. [McCully’s] whip-smart romp through absurdly outrageous queer scenarios that everyone knows should be daydreamed and neither seen nor heard… what makes the script so poignantly hysterical is the idea that the obsessions, the irrational emotions, the painful awkwardness—while hugely hyperbolic—speak to experiences we’ve all shared. And isn’t it refreshing to be able to laugh about them?”

Inexcusable Fantasies performs at Divadlo Kampa, Nosticova 2a, Malá Strana, Praha 1; 24.5 – 28.5 at 19:30 and 29.5 – 1.6 at 22:30.  Running time is 50 minutes.  For more information about Fringe Festival Praha, go to www.fringe.cz.  Tickets at www.ticketstream.cz.  To learn more about Inexcusable Fantasies, visit www.grrlparts.com
