Here is a short film written and directed by Tricky. The music in the video is taken from his album 'False Idols' in addition to some original and unreleased music.
“Sophie Sees” was shot over a couple of days in Paris earlier this year with a small crew and an improvised approach. “It was very simple,” Tricky says. “We had the rough ideas to start with, and just did it really without any rigid structure.” By turns violent and intimate, the film follows a young French woman through a series of interactions tinged with menace, broken up by free-form interludes which may be the music videos she claims to make in her head.
The music in “Sophie Sees” is taken from Tricky’s album False Idols, in addition to some as yet unreleased music by Tricky. As heavily as the music features in the film though, “Sophie Sees” doesn’t represent a narrative relating to the album. “The film is completely unrelated to any other work I have done,” say Tricky. “It’s unrelated to the album and people shouldn’t read anything in to it. Its just something I did because I wanted to do it.”Credits:
