Miami House DJ Dumped for Spinning Jamie Jones

Chicago house star Dennis Ferrer was unceremoniously kicked off the decks at Miami superclub Mansion last weekend, after promoters took exception to his dropping tracks by producers including Nic Fanciulli, Phil Jacks and Jamie Jones’ remix of Storm Queen's Look Right Through.

 “Mansion_miami made me get off the decks!!” Ferrer revealed in a posting in facebook moments after being ejected, “(they) said I don't play commercial enough!! WTF!!!!!” https://www.facebook.com/dennisferrerobj

 His revelation prompted an immediate outpouring of support towards him and rage at Mansion across Facebook and the blogosphere, and a more reasoned assessment from local newspaper the Miami New Times several days later (though also in their ‘Department of WTF’).

 Pointing out that “Mansion has always catered to a very mainstream crowd with very commercial taste in music’ the newspaper nevertheless questioned their decision to stop Ferrer midset..

 “Ironically, Ferrer is a fairly commercial house DJ himself, with chart-topping hits like 2010's "Hey Hey" under his belt,” the New Times noted.

 “Apparently, though, Mansion and its patrons aren't happy unless they're getting a full night's worth of David Guetta and LMFAO on repeat.” (http://bit.ly/zW04vl )

 Even more ironically, just two weeks earlier Ferrer had blasted his ‘hero’ house DJs for failing to move musically with the times (presumably meaning to play more commercially) dismissing most for being too old.

 “I'd rather play to 53,000 18 to 30 year olds than worry about playing to a hundred 45 year olds!” he told 5Chicago.com. (http://bit.ly/yHMySw )

 “Most of the people that used to be relevant are not anymore! Times change. This is a business,” he added.

 In the same interview he also vowed ‘you’re never going to hear Guetta out of my box’ though two days after the Mansion incident was uncharacteristically subdued.

 “‘Gettin' taken off decks is quite a sobering and humbling experience,” he admitted, “And one I shall not want to be repeated’.
