Insane Clown Posse Fight the FBI

US rap duo Insane Clown Posse (ICP) have announced they plan to sue the FBI after the US secret police force classified their notoriously eccentric hardcore fanbase as a dangerous street gang.

Though best known for dressing up as clowns and shouting ‘Fam-ue-lee’ and Whoop-whoop!” non-stop, the ‘Juggalos’ were categorised alongside criminal organisations including Crips, Bloods, and Aryan Brotherhood in the FBI’s 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report, with detailed information on why they are dangerous.

“Juggalos’ disorganization and lack of structure within their groups, coupled with their transient nature, makes it difficult to classify them and identify their members and migration patterns. Many criminal Juggalo sub- sets are comprised of transient or homeless individuals, according to law enforcement reporting,” said the FBI.

“Transient, criminal Juggalo groups pose a threat to communities due to the potential for violence, drug use/sales, and their general destructive and violent nature. “Juggalos are traditionally fans of the musical group the insane Clown Posse,” the FBI report noted. Challenging the ruling this week, Insane Clown Posse launched a website JuggalosFightBack.com and urged fans to contact them about FBI harassment.

“[We] are investigating a possible lawsuit against the FBI or other governmental agencies that have violated the rights of Juggalos on the mistaken belief that they are 'gang members',” they said.

“If you or someone you know have suffered any negative consequence with a governmental representative, including law enforcement, border patrol, airline security, or other local, state or federal governmental agency or employee as a result of your status as a Juggalo, we want to know about it". http://www.juggalosfightback.com

Speaking about the case to the Village Voice, ICP member Shaggy 2 Dope admitted they’ve been shocked and appalled by the demonization of their audiences.

“"You're trying to grow love in your country and shit," says Shaggy 2 Dope. "Then the head of your country--the FBI--just turns around and f**king kicks you in the nuts. How are you supposed to respond to that?" He and J could only identify one option. "We're doing the American thing--we're suing." (

Wired magazine on the rise of Insane Clown Posse: http://bit.ly/NultxX ); ‘Many of ICP’s wisest moves were things that once looked like career killers: hanging out with fans while snubbing industry types, starting a niche music festival in the middle of nowhere, and, in Bruce’s case, writing a lengthy, soul-baring memoir filled with unpleasant details called Behind the Paint . . .”)
