Political activists from the Society for a New Bulgaria party in Varna, Bulgaria, have selected a donkey called Marko as their candidate for the upcoming Mayoral election.
”Unlike the other mayoral candidates and politicians, Marko has a strong character,” said campaign director Angel Dyankov explaining their unusual choice, “he doesn't steal, doesn't lie, and gets the work done.” (Daily Mail: http://bit.ly/oOFxlJ )
The environmental party’s decision to pick a donkey came five years after educators in Rajastan, India singled out donkeys for their noted integrity in a school textbook written for teenagers.
“A donkey is like a housewife,” the book explained.
"In fact, the donkey is a shade better, for while the housewife may sometimes complain and walk off to her parents’ home you’ll never catch the donkey being disloyal to his master.” (Sunday Times)
Extremist Muslim preacher Anjem ‘Andy’ Choudary also revealed a strong interest in donkeys during a speech he delivered in 2009 in which he also called for gays, in particular Labour’s Machiavellian then spin doctor Peter Mandelson, to be stoned to death.
'If a man likes another man, it can happen,” Mr Chouadary told a press conference in London, “But if you go on to fulfil your desire, if it is proved, then there is a punishment to follow. You don't stone to death unless there are four eyewitnesses. It is a very stringent procedure,” he said.
“There are some people who are attracted to donkeys,” the preacher continued, “but that does not mean it is right,” he added. (Daily Mail)
