Autonomics are an American rock band that plays Prague's Roxy this Monday, April 17. The entry is FREE. We bring you an interview about their musical past, present and future.
What were your musical heroes when you were growing up?
Metallica, Rush, Blink 182, Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Weezer.
And why did you decide to play indie pop/rock, what was so beautiful about it?
We decided on indie pop rock because we like the idea of writing catchy pop songs that reach a wide demographic, while also maintaining a bit of an edge. Fast, distorted punk music can still be uplifting, melodic, and pleasing to the ear.
There are twins in the band - how does it influence the dynamics of its existence?
Evan and Vaughn have spent their whole lives doing everything together, and as a result make for a very tight rhythm section.
Your album is called Debt Sounds - how do you approach financial struggles?
One thing at a time. You make a plan and prioritize what needs to be paid for, and you save up and get it done. Now more than ever, it's really difficult to become a financially stable artist, it can feel like the world is stacked against you sometimes. The album is our way of reaching out and empathizing with other artists. It's really tough out here sometimes, but whether it's painting or music or dancing or whatever, making and sharing art is worth being in debt, it's worth the struggle.
What is your live show like?
Our live show is an exciting mix of energy and positivity. You definitely won't want to go out for a cigarette until we're finished.
What will you do after this tour ends?
We will head back to the States and work on the American release of Debt Sounds, along with an American tour. Keeping the grind going strong.
