Geneva, a small city at the border of Switzerland and France, has been known to be expensive and a bit posh. Does it sound boring? Is it worth visiting? Here are some reasons why “yes” is the right answer.
1) Cheap flights from Prague
Well, we live in the world where money is a main commodity. So even if you have some, you always try to find ways to save a penny. This means that low cost flights are the best option. Besides that, the Swiss flight service is exceptionally great. Serving a croissant and cafe is a standard, moreover you´ll get amazing Swiss chocolate at the end of the flight. This is why you definitely must go there.
2) The biggest 3-legged chair in the world
No, this is not a joke. There really is a big wooden chair without one leg. Actually, this chair is broken as it symbolizes the oppostion to land mines. In fact, if you go under the broken leg, you can be a part of the sculpture. You can show your sophisticated self as you´re obviously aware of problems with guns – or you may just want to have a picture with it.
3) Cern
Who would refuse to be like Sheldon Cooper for one day? Cern is an extraordinary place where you´re likely to find out how stupid and meaningless you actually are.
4) Stylish cafes, watches and flee markets
Try to guess where you can find watches at almost every corner. Well, you must be right – in Geneva, you will be totally spoiled by the range of brands and designs of watches. However, if you are not keen on spending money on watches, you can try Swiss fondue at some nice small café which smells incredibly delicious when you’re walking around.
Moreover, on weekends, a flee market takes place in the real heart of the city centre. For one day, you can basically buy whatever you want. For example, you can even get some beautiful piece of art from the pavement.
5) Suprisingly relaxed attitude of posh Genevan people
In this small but rich city, there is no other way how to escape from Swish egoism but to be relaxed. You might think - inhabitants have such a high standard of living in Geveva. Of course, it´s just a stereotype. No, this is not about money. What I mean is that you can play ginormous chess at a city park while you´re having dinner with your relatives and friends. Just imagine, you cook dinner, you put this hot meal into a bowl and take out cold wine from the fridge. Then just move on to the park to share it with people who you love. This idea is simply amazing and this is exactly what you can experience in Geneva.
