Juergen Teller: great exhibition is situated in Prague till spring

Galerie Rudolfinum opened a spectacular exhibition of photography. The author, who lives and works in London, are known for his photography of people from the music industry as Kurt Cobain, Sinéad O'Connor or Morrissey. Teller also cooperated with life-style magazines such as i-D or The Face.

Juergen Teller looked like he has just came from a family trip as he were dressed in a red ski jacket and a knitten cap. While Petr Nedom was delivering his speech in the hall of Rudolfinum, Teller interrupted him noting that it is funny that the bank which is sponsoring the exhibition has same initials as he has. The author has chosen photography which presents his perspective of life and a sense of humor. The name of the exhibition: "Enjoy Your Life!" might seem like a cliché provoking to consumerist orgies. With a little bit of a patience and openness you can in a while note the irony and delicate humor lurked just below the surface. I would describe it like a painted plate full of snacks - when you are eating that snacks, you are also revealing pictures hidden below. Symbol of plate takes visitors throughout whole exhibition. The autor (whose name in German means a plate) gives the show a certain ambiguity.

I can see a parallel between the title of the exhibition and some words of Preacher from one of the old testament books. A Preacher there also invites readers to enjoying their life although with a condition that their robes should remained white. I assume that with this information he would like to tell us that our joys and delights should not be detriment to other people. Juergen Teller offers enjoyment hidden in his pictures without any detriment for any visitors (he do not push him into any philosophical cramps or to be overtop of visitors). The exibition is almost without any acoompanying texts. Labels are located very rarely, which on the other hand is compensated in a very comprehensive catalog. This catalog is available for 30 CZK. This exibition is open every day, except Monday, from 10am to 6pm (Thursday until 8pm) until 19/03/2017. Entrance cost 120 CZK (70 CZK)
