Mexx Footwear 2012

photo: Mexx

For its Spring/Summer footwear collection, Mexx draws inspiration from the Mediterranean seaside where port life is flirty and relaxed, but with a dressed-up sensibility. Take for instance this season’s brogues for both men and women. These classic shoes have been updated with heavy-looking soles in light-weight materials in a range of summery colors, making them perfect for practically any occasion. The same casual chic is transposed to the city with summer ankle boots for men, which are offered in soft brushed leathers and comfortable washed canvas. Block details abound in uppers and soles alike.

Women’s sandals this time around have closed heels and ankle straps and come in a range of natural tones from nude pastels to earthier and dustier leather and khaki. These are embellished with handcrafting – particularly embroidery and heavy cross-stitching – and braided straps. Treated suede gives the line a soft vintage touch. Perfect for lounging by the pool, a walk along the beach or for shopping in the big city.

The Mediterranean is also reflected in the choice of colors. Ranging from pale blue to deep indigo, blue is the new black. Drawing from the sea as well, bright coral tones are used as accents throughout the line for women. The red and orange of ripe fruit complete the summery Mediterranean feel. What better way to bring the cool and relaxing seaside back to the city this summer.
